About Ilsington Pre-School
We have been offering quality Pre-School education since 1972 and in 2002 we moved
to our current premises at llsington Village Hall. We now hold 5 sessions per week
Mondays to Fridays during school term time only. We also incorporate a Parent and Toddler group with the Monday morning sessions. We are a rural Pre-School and
are pleased to offer our facilities to all families from a wide geographical area.
We aim to provide a creative and enjoyable learning environment for all children. The
sessions combine free play, registration time which gives the children time for free
expression, a period of constructive activities and sitting down together for story telling
whilst having light refreshments of milk or water, fruit and biscuits. The activities that
are offered are planned to encourage children to be creative, to encourage their
pre-reading, writing and numerical skills and to develop co-ordination and manual
dexterity. The children will also be encouraged to develop their social skills and learn a
variety of concepts through play.
We are now fully owned by the Pre-School Learning Alliance and in accordance
with their aims we are committed to providing equality of opportunity for all children
and their families. The Pre-School is now establishing a Parent group which helps
support the Pre-School by fund raising etc. for equipment, toys and other activities.
Our Pre-School enjoys links with llsington Primary School and Blackpool Primary
School where possible in sharing ideals and themes and also aiming to provide a
continuity of quality care and education for your child. Many of the children carry on
to attend either of these Primary Schools however this is not a condition of providing a
place for your child.
The Pre-School is also a member of DEYDOP (Devon Early Years Development and
Childcare Partnership) also now known as Zero 14 Plus.
We are registered with Ofsted, registration number EY287024, who inspect us
regularly for our Registration and Health and Safety and then a combined inspection to
include curriculum takes place every 2 - 4 years. Our registration enables us to accept 26
children at any one session but due to our own Pre-School policy and staffing levels we
only take up to 16 children at any one session.
